Spring Cleaning Commences: On Thursday, March 30, New York State Department of Transportation workers could be seen cleaning the graffiti off of the walkway which crosses Scajaquada Expressway. Hector Torres, who is part of a DOT bridge crew, is pictured above using blasting soda to clean off the paint. Blasting soda is basically just baking soda. Frank O'Brien, was the bridge crew's supervisor. He explained, "We're trying to make the park look nice! The blasting soda is a little more work because it is more of a fine powder. But it is environmentally friendly, and it does a good job of getting the paint off the concrete." photo: Eric Ortner
